On the 2nd of June, the Sun looked different from usual, for the people of Hyderabad, Telangana.
On Wednesday afternoon, a rare view of Sun Halo, a bright halo around the Sun, was witnessed in Hyderabad. A Sun halo is caused by the refraction, reflection, and dispersion of light through ice particles suspended within thin, wispy, high altitude cirrus or cirrostratus clouds. As light passes through these hexagon shaped ice crystals, it is bent at a 22° angle, creating a circular halo around the Sun. It is also called the winter halo and occurs around Sun/Moon.
